![]() ![]() When I tried with half of files 21-30, success, when I tried with the other half, failure. When I used all 38 files, the process broke. One avenue still open to me was to verify that there wasn’t a (hopefully) small subset of video sources that were the source of my problem. I tested making a DVD with a single 28 minute video file from these sources, and it worked fine. For these tests, I took the default font (for the style), which is Trebuchet MS. I had been attempting to customize the font used. I can’t explain why my encoded files (done with ffmpeg) are meaningfully different than this. It’s already 48kHz AAC encoded, which seems like what I usually see in DVD contexts, so I guess this makes sense. There’s no audio, so I assume it’s just using the audio stream from the source container. I changed the temporary directory to something easy to find and ran a few files through. Rather than try them all (or hope for a single successful iteration of bogo sort), I decided to see what the transcoded output of DVD Maker looked like and just use those settings. There are lots of possibilities for CODEC use. I have to assume that it knows enough to get past the container. Video ContainerĭVD Maker will only allow me to import certain types of files (i.e. I also tried using a virtual optical drive program called Virtual CD, which I found very helpful, because it allowed me to create blank virtual media and have DVD Maker burn virtually without consuming a physical disc every time it failed. Before I seriously consider this, I’ll need to investigate other options or come up with some legitimate proof that the hardware/driver is defective. It’s not so obviously defective that simple tests fail. I have successfully used the optical drive for reading and I did a single writing test (burning an ISO to a DVD-R). I don’t have spare optical drives just sitting around to test.
